Feng Shui Master at KBU - New Sunday Times
4th December 2005
STUDENTS of the School of Design, KBU Internationa] College had the golden opportunity to participate in a special seminar on feng shut with world-renowned feng shut grand masterYap Cheng Hai.
The seminar, titled "Applying Feng Shut in Design for Art of Living", attracted an overwhelming response from KBU students and staff as well as the public.
Yap needs little or no introduction as his illustrious career dates back to the 1940s.
His extraordinary achievements over the years have earned him accolades and reputation as a top feng shui exponent.
He is also known for being a dedicated promoter and supporter of wu shu, a branch of Chinese martial arts, besides being responsible for founding the Chinese Wu Shu Federation of Malaysia.
KBU's design students of various backgrounds and nationalities took full advantage of Yap's presence at the college by consulting him on various issues in their design that were related to elements of feng shui.
Yap obligingly entertained questions from the students as well as members of the public.
Learning how energy moved in surroundings and how designs of buildings and their interiors affected people who lived in it, enabled the students to have better insights into their own designs.
KBU School of Design head Anis Laila Yap remarked that what made the seminar so refreshing was the fact that feng shut also called for the understanding of the art of assessing the quality of life through observations and analysis of a person's living environment.
"This is exactly what all designers should do when designing their work especially those relating to architectural space and layout," she added.
The School of Design is currently offering two United Kingdom-franchise d programmes in Graphic Design^ and Interior Architecture and Design in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. Besides the two programmes, the school also offers various programmes at the foundation and diploma levels.
