Q&A - The Sun Property Plus
19th August 2005

Q.    I AM a single female aged 35. I stay in an apartment, which has the main door facing North (N) and the balcony facing South (S). The kitchen is located in the N as well. My head faces West (W) when I sleep. My romantic life is poor. I am unable to maintain any relationship for more than two months. Is there any way to enhance or improve my love life through feng shui?
A. In classical feng shui, the exterior of a property and an exact compass reading are important. As I do not have an actual reading of your apartment, I can only generalise that your front door is facing N with a compass reading of between 337.5º and 27.5º. With this information I can only apply the eight mansions school of feng shui.

You are a Zhen Gua person with your auspicious directions being S, N, SE and E and your inauspicious directions being SW, NW, NE and W.

Your main door facing the N is good. However, your sleeping position is pointing towards the W, which is definite not good. Your kitchen in the N is also not too good but I realise the impracticalities of moving a kitchen in an apartment. So, looking at this, the easiest thing would be to reposition your bed. Have your bed in a SE room with the bedhead pointing towards the SE. This can possibly help you in your relationships, not just your romantic life but also in your business dealings and general family harmony.

Q. My wife and I are metal dogs, born in 1970, with Gua No 3. We stay in a SW-facing house with our bedroom in the south sector. We sleep with our heads facing E. The East wall, this year, is afflicted I think with the illness star. We have an eight immortal wulou in our bedroom. This East wall is shared by our neighbour, who sleeps on the opposite side of this wall, with their heads facing W (us).

My neighbour has had cancer for the past year or so. As a result, my wife feels that with us sleeping facing E (due to the illness star) and facing this neighbour, there is a double dose of negative energy. Is this true? My wife has had difficulty sleeping and she gets “fong sap” and falls ill quite easily. She blames this on bad energy from our neighbour. In fact, she sometimes feels that our energy is being used/absorbed by our neighbour because she sometimes sees them so happy whereas she’s bogged down with wind, “fong sap” and a lack of sleep. Is there any truth to this? Is there a way to prevent “absorbtion of energy” through the wall by our neighbour, besides moving to a different room to sleep.

At one stage, we even tried putting six rod hollow windchimes on the East wall in our bedroom, but we were told that windchimes inside the house/bedroom is not good. Please advise.

A. As you are Gua 3, a SW-facing house (assuming that this is your door direction) would mean that you are facing one of your inauspicious directions. This is not good. Your bedroom in the S is good but your bed pointing towards E is only average. Moreover, you are right about E being the sickness star (two black) for 2005. Assuming that your bed is also in the E, you are sleeping on the San Sha and Sui Poh. One is bad enough but the two together is really bad! I think that this is the real reason rather than blaming it on your neighbour! In fact, your assumption that your neighbour is absorbing your energy is groundless. Having identified your problem, let’s fi x it. Your case is interesting because you are having your bed on the annual killing positions. Do not move your bed! Moving your bed will activate it further. My suggestion would be to purchase a new mattress and lay it on the floor in either the N or S sector of your bedroom with your head facing either the N or S. If you have another door in any of your auspicious directions, use that door rather than the SW door.
