Q&A - The Sun Property Plus 22th July 2005
Q. |

I HAVE a critical financial problem and am at the edge of my life. I have tried many ways to solve my problems but they do not seem to help. I was a wiring contractor. I do not know if the house I am living in is causing all the miseries. I noticed that all these problems arose since I started staying in this house. I was born on Aug 20, 1960. The front door of my house faces North (N) and is located on the Northwest (NW) sector. On the ground floor, the toilet is in the centre of the house plan with the kitchen on the Southeast (SE). On the first floor, my master bedroom is on the N and Northeast (NE) section with the attached bathroom on the NW. There is another bathroom at the centre of the first floor, which means it is directly above the bathroom on my ground floor. How should I remedy the inauspicious layout?

Based on your date of birth, your Life Gua is Xun or Gua No 4, which means your auspicious directions are N, South, East and SE. From the description of your house, your door direction is not bad. It is facing N, which is considered an auspicious direction that can bring a person good business and harmony. What could be the problem is that the door is located in the NW sector of your house. This is not good, especially this year, where we have the Wu Huang or 5 Yellow inauspicious energy coming from this direction. If you have another door facing one of the directions mentioned above, you should use the other door. Hang a 6-rod wind chime at your NW doorway without nailing the wall or ceiling. With your bedroom in the N and NE, place your bed so that your head points towards the N sector of your room. Your kitchen in the SE is not good for you. Consider having it in the SW corner of your house. If you cannot do anything about the location of your kitchen, you need to look at your stove and have it placed in the SW corner of your kitchen. You still have to work hard as feng shui can only provide opportunities. Turning these opportunities into reality is up to you.

My house is 181° facing south. In front of it is a vacant bungalow land, which is slightly on a higher ground than my house. At the back of my house, there is a 90° retaining wall connected to my neighbour and their upper floor is at the same level as my ground floor. My friends tell me that my house has no “backing” and therefore, no good feng shui. However, the house on our left is on a slightly higher ground while the house on our right is much lower than ours. The road in front of our house is sloping from left to right. There will be a future condominium development behind the bungalow land, which is about 300 yards from my house. Please advise.

Based on the information provided, your friends are correct in that the lower ground at the back means that you have no backing or support. Important projects that you are attempting will always have stability issues. Furthermore, the land on your right is lower than your house, further increasing your lack of support issues. Don’t worry, this can be easily fixed with some renovation work. Have your main entrance on your western side. I assume your house is a bungalow lot. This will resolve the land configuration issues of your house. However, we do not know if the West sector is suitable for you. The actual layout of the house will also have an impact on the feng shui.

I recently bought a pair of pi xie of five to six inches long after reading some of its “valuable properties”. I am not sure how to put it up or display them. What do we need to perform before putting the pair of pi xie up for display and where should we put it. Some say the pi xie must follow the person who bought it. Is it true? My zodiac sign is cow and I live in a fl at on the fourth level which is also the highest level with my wife and daughter whose zodiac signs are horse and dog, respectively. My main door faces NW and looks directly into my opposite neighbour’s fl at. The sunrays from the SE shine into my house from the back window and kitchen.

The pi xie is generally used to ward off evil, injustice and bad luck. It was used in ancient China to guard the halls of justice of the old magistrates. The legend goes that they are so fierce that no evil, lies or injustice can pass by the pi xie when they are on guard. For feng shui purposes, the pi xie is used normally to guard a home against evil. The problem here is that the pi xie is a mythological animal, which belongs more to Chinese cultural myth than to feng shui, which is about tapping the qi of the environment by using directions or locations. These directions and locations have a time factor as well. With this time factor, we then calculate that every year, there are a few inauspicious directions. The quality of this inauspicious qi is like that of the Earth of five elements). As such, we recommend that you place a metal object in the NW, West (W) and East (E) for 2005. These metal objects can be pi xie, which are made of brass. The metal brass will reduce the strength of the inauspicious earth qi and the figurine being a pi xie as they are considered auspicious from our Chinese roots. An iron, tin or aluminium ingot will do the job as well but will not be so aesthetically pleasing. The bottom line is to place your pi xie in the NW, W or E sector of your house and have them face these directions. There is no ceremony required unless you choose to have the pi xie blessed at the temple. It would be much better if your pi xie is made of metal.
