Is it okay to decorate a bathroom or toilet? I have been told that it is bad luck to highlight the bathroom with ornaments or soft furnishings as it is where all my luck is flushed away. Must I keep my bathroom bare and out of sight?
A.
This is not true. Getting back to the key areas of classical feng shui - location and direction are of primary concern. By having your toilet in the right location, the toilet door in the right direction. It does not matter if you furnish your toilet tastefully.
Q.
My house’s entrance faces a single metal pylon. I am unable to change the position of the door. Can I hang a Ba Gua and where can I get one? I also have a beam in the bathroom. Please advise.
A.
If the metal post is within the doorway but not in the centre, then the effect is not too bad. A Ba Gua mirror can help in this instance and can be obtained from most shops that sell Chinese religious paraphernalia.
If you are a Buddhist or Taoist, you may get it blessed at a temple. Ultimately, it would still be best if you could fi d some way to change the direction of your doorway. The beam in the bathroom is not a problem. The bathroom is not considered an essential room and so that is why the beam can be disregarded.
