Q&A - The Sun Property Plus 28th April 2006
Q. |
I am planning to buy a new house that faces Southwest. My Gua number is 1. Is this house suitable for me in the period eight? My present house faces Southeast.
A. |
As you are Kan Gua (Gua number 1), your best directions are Southeast, East, South and North. Southwest is one of your worst directions. I would recommend against taking up the house facing Southwest. This is not to say that a Southwest-facing house is undesirable, but a Southwest-facing house does not suit you, whatever the period.

Q. |
My room faces Northwest and my window is next to be my bed, which is beside my table. I am constantly falling asleep while studying and I'm hoping to improve the feng shui in my room to help improve my concentration. What do I need to do?
A. |
Your room may not be suitable to you based on your personal Life Gua (which can be calculated from your birth date. Please refer to earlier articles). You should find out what your Life Gua is and sit in a corner of your room that is more suitable and face an auspicious direction. This will help you in your studies. Don't forget that there could be other causes for your tiredness such as the position of your bed, not getting a restful sleep or perhaps you are partying too much!

Q. |
Is it okay to have the dining room just below the toilet? If not, what is the feng shui remedy if I am not able to move either the dining room or the toilet?
A. |
In feng shui, we try not to have a number of things under the toilet: the bed, the altar, the stove, the desk and of course, the dining table. However, in today's houses, it is not always possible avoid these types of layout, your house being a case in point. In this case, we can only make the best out of a bad situation by avoiding the worst position - that is being directly under the water closet or bidet. As long as you can avoid being under these two things, you have actually avoided the worst of it. And why do we want to avoid being under these items? Just imagine if any of these developed a leak.

Q. |
I am planning to buy a water feature and would like to place it either inside or outside my house, which faces East. I would greatly appreciate some advice on this.
A. |
The placement of water features is not something that is done lightly as water is a strong activating factor - it can activate both the good or the bad. The key is its location, which is determined by the external environment, the actual direction of your house (East is 45º and every degree East can mean something different for your house, the internal layout of your house and of course, your date of birth.) As we do not have any information about these things, there is no way of recommending where to place your water feature. Of course, if you are feeling lucky, you can fall back on the very simple and basic first rule and place it on the left of your front door.
