Period Eight and Poison Arrows - The Sun Property Plus
22th April 2005

Q.    What kind of pictures can enhance the feng shui of an office or home in general? Must we know certain particulars of the house or property owner such as Gua number and birth details before buying such pictures to decorate the premises?
A. The kind of pictures is not that important. As pictures are more of a symbolic representation of the real thing, the effect for good or bad is minimal. In a consultation, I normally leave the decision to the client if they want to follow their own taste or feng shui principles strictly. The reasoning for this is simple. If the feng shui for the house is say 90% right, the wrong choice in pictures would only be 1% to 2%. The deduction of such a minimal amount in exchange for something that a person really likes is more than acceptable. Having said that, if you choose to follow feng shui principles all the way, the pictures chosen would depend on the Gua of a person and the location where it would be hung.

Q. Is it okay to hang a wind chime outside the balcony?
A. Hanging a wind chime is not a problem but do not hang too many. If possible, hang a metal wind chime in the NW sector of your house this year to counter the negative effects of the annual unlucky star number five, which is at the NW.

Q. I HAVE just finished putting up the roof and flooring for my new house during period seven. I will be extending the kitchen portion before moving in. Is my house considered a period of seven or eight house? Furthermore, poison arrows from the opposite house’s roof and tree are directed at my sliding glass door and are quite near the main wooden door. Will this affect the feng shui of my house?
A. I am not clear if you have moved in yet. For the purpose of Flying Stars, our view is that the period of the house is based on the period in which the occupants have moved in. This is due to the human qi activating the inherent qi of the property. If I understand correctly, you have yet to move in; you will be moving in only after you have renovated your kitchen. I would then consider your house to be a period eight house if you move in anytime after Feb 4, 2004. If you use your wooden door more, that would be considered the main door. As such, the poison arrows are not directed at your main door. I would suggest that you minimise the usage of your sliding door for entry or exit from your house.
