BUTTERWORTH: Hard work is the best prevention against bad luck in the Year of the Wood Rooster, according to veteran geomancer Yap Cheng Hai.
"Good feng shui helps by bringing good luck, health, money or even intelligence but all these can only be achieved if you work hard," he said.
"The first, second, fifth, seventh, eight, ninth, 10th and 11th Chinese lunar months are said to be good months while bad luck is in store during the remaining lunar months," he said during a talk on feng shui in Prai, organised by Prima Prai Sdn Bhd.
He said that on the "bad months," one had to be more careful with business dealings, be more patient, guard against legal suits, take care of their health and be on the alert against robbery or theft.
Yap said three main things to avoid were digging, renovating and disturbing the East, West and Northwest sectors of the house.
He explained that for this year, the "San Sha" or Three Killings are located in the East, therefore this sector should not be disturbed.
Similarly, the "Tai Sui" or the Minister of Time in Heaven is located in the West and disturbing this sector would cause bad luck.
"The Five Yellow Stars are located in the Northwest sector this year and it is a very bad earth energy which could cause sickness and accidents," he said, adding that the negative energy could be suppressed by placing metal objects such as six-rod wind chimes, pots or "Qilins" in the sector.
Yap also advised individuals to consult professional feng shui masters before renovating their properties.
